Nursing Fundamentals Simulation

Catalog description
This simulation lab course provides structured high, low fidelity, and virtual learning experiences that support the development of clinical judgment, professional identity, and core nursing competencies consistent with the AACN Essentials. Students integrate nursing, biological, behavioral, and social sciences to deliver safe, equitable, person centered care across diverse populations and practice settings. Through guided simulation, students apply the nursing process and evidence based practice to access health status, prioritize care, implement interventions, and evaluate outcomes. The course emphasizes interprofessional collaboration, communication, informatics and healthcare technologies, and quality and safety principles. Professionalism, ethical practice, cultural humility, and accountability are expected throughout the course. Structured debriefing and reflective practice promote self awareness, continuous improvement, and readiness for professional nursing practice. Restriction, Nursing, Sophomore or higher. Prerequisites: Grade of C+ or higher in NURS 206 and NURS 206S. Corequisite: NURS 217L. Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer.
