Catalog description
Simulation lab provides experiential learning in comprehensive health assessment and wellness promotion strategies across the lifespan. Through hands-on, scenario based simulations and guided debriefing, students apply clinical reasoning, communication, and patient education skills to identify health risks, promote wellness, and support disease prevention. Emphasis is placed on health data collection, risk recognition, and culturally responsive communication that empowers individuals and families to engage in healthier behaviors. Students will practice assessment and education techniques in a safe, simulated environment to integrate physical, psychosocial, and environmental data into a holistic plan of care. Simulation experiences incorporate principles of teamwork, leadership, safety, and quality, fostering the application of knowledge within the Wellness and Disease Prevention sphere of care and promoting growth in self awareness, reflection, and professional judgment. Restriction: Nursing majors. Prerequisites: Grade of C+ or higher in BI 215 and BI 216. Corequisite: NURS 206. Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer.
