Catalog description

This practicum course equips graduate students with immersive, hands-on experience in clinical teaching. Students will apply evidence-based clinical teaching models, develop learning activities and navigate ethical and legal challenges in nursing education. Topics include clinical simulation, conflict management and mentorship with an emphasis on fostering a collaborative learning environment. Students will integrate advanced reasoning, personalized healthcare strategies and evidence-based care practices while optimizing care coordination and transitions of care into their clinical teaching frameworks. The course focuses on systems-level thinking, interdisciplinary collaboration, relationship building with stakeholders in the clinical setting, professional growth and a commitment to lifelong learning and self-care. By the end of the course, students will be prepared to teach in clinical settings advocating for quality care and optimal educational outcomes. This course includes the completion of 100 practicum hours. Prerequisites: NR 721 and NR 721L. Grade of B or higher. Corequisite: NR 723. Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer.
