Clinical Nursing Education Seminar

Catalog description

This course provides graduate students with the essential skills and knowledge required to effectively teach and mentor in clinical settings. This course explores key aspects of clinical education, including evidence-based teaching strategies, innovative learning activities and ethical and legal issues that impact the clinical teaching environment. Through topics such as clinical simulation, conflict management and professional mentorship, students will engage in interdisciplinary collaboration to improve educational outcomes and patient safety. Incorporating innovation and technology integration, advocacy and policy development, collaboration and interprofessional practice, quality improvement and safety, the course fosters reflective practice, lifelong learning and personal well being. Students will evaluate evidence-based teaching models, design learning activities that promote professional growth and address complex challenges in nursing education. By the end of the course, participants will be able to incorporate ethical principles in their teaching, manage conflict effectively, adapt to institutional changes and lead initiatives that promote diversity, equity and inclusion with clinical settings. Prerequisites: NR 721 and NR 721L. Grade of B or higher. Corequisite: NR 723L. Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer.
