Catalog description

This course is designed to deepen the understanding of psychopharmacological principles and enhance clinical decision-making skills for nurse practitioner students. The course will explore the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of psychotropic medications, the neurobiological basis of mental health disorders and evidence-based treatment strategies. Students will learn to assess, prescribe and manage medication therapies for a variety of psychiatric conditions. Emphasis will be placed on understanding individual patient needs, managing side effects and integrating psychopharmacology into holistic patient care. Prerequisites: NR 598, NR 602 and NR 642. Grade of B or higher. Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer.
