Catalog description

This course prepares nurse practitioner students to practice in pediatric settings with a focus on the application of comprehensive health assessments, diagnostic reasoning and tailored treatment plans for patients ranging from infancy through adolescence. Integrating knowledge of Advanced Physical Assessment and Diagnostic Reasoning, Advanced Pathophysiology and Advanced Pharmacology, emphasis is placed on designing health promotion and disease prevention strategies to optimize health outcomes in the pediatric setting. By the end of the course, students will have developed a fundamental understanding of the role of the advanced practice nurse in treating pediatric patients. Prerequisites: NR 600, NR 601, NR 603 and NR 605. Grade of B or higher. Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer.
