Coordinator of Care Practicum

Catalog description
In this culminating 200-hour practicum course, students synthesize and demonstrate the full scope of professional nursing practice in complex health-care environments. Under the guidance of a faculty mentor and clinical preceptor, learners coordinate and deliver comprehensive, evidence-based, person=centered care to individuals, families, and populations across settings. Emphasis is placed on leadership, interprofessional collaboration, quality improvement, and safe transitions of care. Students assume increasing autonomy and accountability in decision-making, delegation, and prioritization of care while integrating ethical reasoning, informatics, and evidence-based practice to enhance outcomes and prepare for entry into professional nursing practice. Restriction: Nursing, Senior level. Prerequisites: Grade of C+ or higher in all of NR 416, NR 416L, NR 431, NR 431L, NR 331, NR 331L, NR 341, NR 341L. Corequisite: NR 421. Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer.
