Catalog description

Introduces students to the principles and processes of nursing research and evidence-based practice (EBP). Students examine how research informs nursing knowledge, strengthens clinical judgment, and supports quality and safety. Emphasis is placed on integrating evidence from research, clinical expertise, and patient preferences to guide care decisions. Learners evaluate the credibility of information sources, explore the relationship among theory, research, and practice, and apply ethical and legal considerations in research and data use. By course completion, students will appraise and apply evidence to address healthcare challenges and support quality improvement. Restriction: Nursing, Junior or higher. Prerequisite: Grade of C+ or higher in all of MA 232, NR 217, NR 217L and NR 217S. Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer.
