Berlin Making the Modern City

Catalog description
This course uses the physical spaces, architecture, monuments and museums of Berlin to explore the history, politics, sociology and culture of the city. It is designed as an "excursion" class: students prepare with shared readings, then go out into the city to experience these places in person. Students become familiar with parts of the city and comfortable with urban environments while they discover the essential and unique cultural, historical and political aspects of life in modern Berlin. Credit cannot be earned in both HI 361 or FA 250. Offered: Fall, Spring.
