Catalog description

Native Americans have been on this continent longer than anyone else, yet their story is rarely told or properly understood. Overview of the rich, multi-varied histories of Native peoples as well as the cultural worldviews, methodologies and ethical considerations necessary to conduct indigenous history. The dominant themes covered will be the pre-Columbian period, encounter with the Atlantic World, adaptation to settler-colonialism and survival within the American nation state. Prerequisite: Grade of D- or higher in a 200 level History course. Offered: Spring.
