Catalog description
An exploration of the role of the natural world in history. Topics cover how plants, animals and climate have shaped human societies, as well as how human societies have in turn impacted the natural world. We will chart how the conversation and environmentalist movements created our contemporary conception of nature. In addition to providing a new lens to analyze human history, this course will examine the environmental consequences of human behavior with an eye toward producing better outcomes for the future. Credit in HI 264 cannot be earned when credit was earned in the topics course Environmental History. Offered: Fall, Spring.
