Human Factors and AI Risk Management

Catalog description

This course examines how human behavior, organizational culture and leadership decisions directly influence the secure and ethical use of artificial intelligence (AI) within enterprise risk management frameworks. Students actively assess how trust, cognitive bias, over-reliance communication failures, guardrails and policy gaps contribute to AI-related risks in cybersecurity operations. Topics focus on identifying these human factors and their impact on the (mis)use of AI, regulatory readiness and the responsible adoption of AI. Students will develop AI governance strategies through hands on deliverables. Apply NIST SP 800-30, the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and AI governance regulations to design guardrails that embed AI risk controls into enterprise risk management. Emphasis on practical, real-world applications. Offered: Winter, Summer.
