Catalog description

Remote Pilot Certificate Preparatory Course explores the rules and regulations o pass the Unmanned Aircraft Systems, sUAS, or drones, Federal Aviation Administration, FAA 14, Part 107 Certificate exam and flight lessons. The FAA Part 107 Certificate is required for commercial drone operators on construction projects. A dedicated lab where students will practice drone handling to develop safe operating procedures to include pre-flight checks, airspace awareness, and emergency procedures. Assignments are based on the FAA Part 107 examination to provide the students with the knowledge and skills to pass the examination. This is accomplished by providing an understanding of the aspects of light and the laws related to flying drones in loading and performance of small-unmanned aircraft, regulations, airport operations, radio communications, airspace, and charts. Other aspects that are discussed are weather theory, weather services, aeronautical decision making, crew resource management, physical factors, night operations, maintenance and inspections and emergency procedures. To conclude the course, there are several practice exams that are beneficial in the preparation to take the FAA Part 107 exam. Offered: Spring.
