Catalog description

An exploration of the experiences, needs, and rights of crime victims, with an emphasis on how trauma affects individuals, communities, and justice system responses. Students examine the science of trauma, patterns of victimization, and the ways criminal justice, social service and community systems can either mitigate or exacerbate harm. The course emphasizes trauma-informed, victim-centered, and restorative approaches to justice. Prerequisite: Grade of B or higher in CRIM 501. Offered: Fall, Spring.
