Fundamentals of Intelligence

This course will explore the field of intelligence, which is the collection and analysis of information for the purpose of forecasting events to support decision-making. Intelligence has traditionally been practiced by governments in the context of warfare and statecraft, but there are increasingly professional opportunities in the private sector as well. This course will survey intelligence history, intelligence disciplines, the structure of the U.S. Intelligence Community and intelligence oversight mechanisms. Through engagement with readings, class discussion and professionals in the field, students will leave this course both better prepared for possible work in the Intelligence Community and with a deeper understanding of a key government function. 3 Credit hours.
