Catalog description

This course provides an in-depth introduction to Geospatial Intelligence, GEOINT, tracing its evolution from ancient mapping practices to its role in modern civilian and national defense applications. Through a U.S. focused perspective, student will exam the practical applications of GEOINT in national security, law enforcement, emergency management and public safety. Hands on exercises and case studies allow students to apply analytical techniques to real world scenarios, developing skills in spatial reasoning, data interpretation and problem solving. Whether pursuing a career in the armed forces, law enforcement, intelligence analysis or seeking a strong foundation in applied geospatial thinking, students will gain valuable tools and knowledge that are directly transferable to professional and civic life. Prerequisite: CJ 101. Offered: Spring.
