Catalog description

This laboratory course provides practical application of orthopedic physical therapy principles through hands-on practice with therapeutic interventions, patient scenarios, and clinical simulations. Students will apply and demonstrate skills in soft tissue mobilization, joint mobilization, therapeutic exercise, and the safe progression of interventions based on surgical protocols and healing timelines. Emphasis is placed on clinical reasoning using case studies, identification of red flags and precautions, and integration of special tests and measures. Students will also complete documentation using SOAP note format and generate billing for simulated treatments. A final lab practical assesses competency in patient treatment, professional communication, and accurate documentation. This course requires a grade of C or higher.
