Catalog description

A study of microscopic organisms, including viruses, bacteria, fungi, algae, protozoans, and parasitic worms. Focus primarily on their structure, physiology and how they interrelate with other organisms in beneficial and/or harmful ways. Study will be given to understanding how modern microbiologic techniques can be used to protect and benefit living things. Prerequisite: SCIE 1213 - Survey of Organic and Biochemistry or SCIE 2433 - Organic Chemistry I , or instructor permission. Concurrent: SCIE 3100 - Microbiology Laboratory except by instructor permission
