An introductory organic and biochemistry course. Topics discussed include alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, aromatics, alcohols, thiols and sulfides, phenols, ethers, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids and their derivatives, amines, lipids and fatty acids, proteins and enzymes, RNA and DNA. (Spring semester) Prerequisite: SCIE 1333 - General Chemistry I or permission of instructor. Concurrent: SCIE 1211 - Survey of Organic and Biochemistry Laboratory except by instructor permission
