Catalog description
The core endeavor in data mining is to extract knowledge from data, the knowledge is captured in human understandable structures, patterns and relationships. We will introduce the end-to-end data mining process and the core components for the discovery of the patterns: data pre-processing, exploratory analysis, choices of algorithms and inferences, evaluation of models, interpretation and visualization of the results that are actionable. We will explore tools suitable for different types of data, methods for discovering different kinds of knowledge, with motivating applications. (Course fee required)
