Introduction to Computer Science

Catalog description

This foundational course provides a rigorous foundation in the theory and practice of computing, including information technology, hardware, software, and programming. Topics include the physical and logical structures of computer systems, including memory management, command-line interfaces, and network protocols (TCP/IP). Applied software development is also introduced, as students learn to design and implement algorithms using core programming constructs such as variables, control structures, objects, and functions. (Course fee required) (Students have the option to take a placement exam to test out of this class.)
