Catalog description

This course focuses on the United States’ development into a major world power from 1877-1945. Topics will include: the continuing development of industry, labor, and finance during the Gilded Age, the closing of the frontier, American efforts at imperialism, the various plans and effects of Progressivism, the Great Depression and New Deal, and both World Wars. The course will feature significant attention to primary sources, notable monographs, and related student research
