Physical Geology

Catalog description

This course is an introduction to the nature and properties of rocks and minerals; processes by which they are formed, altered, and transported; and the nature and development of the landscape. Laboratory work includes the study of minerals, rocks, and topographic and geologic maps. Occasional field trips may be arranged. This course fulfills the Life and Physical Sciences foundational component area of the core and addresses the following required objectives: Critical Thinking, Communication, Empirical Quantitative Skills, and Teamwork.
