Aging, Families, and Older Adult Care

Catalog description
In this course, students will examine the full range of older adult care services. These include basic assistance with independent activities of daily living (IADLs), activities of daily living (ADLs), rehabilitation care, aging in place, familial caregiving, long-term care, and hospice. Students will investigate the concepts, theories, and strategies related to older adult care as well as common concerns specific to the care and the emotional strains families and older adults may face. A key component of the course will be the appraisal of caregiver strategies, including support groups, respite care, and other community resources.
