Catalog description
Group work, including group counseling, group therapy, and other type of change-oriented groups, involves special dynamics and processes and requires specific leader behaviors and characteristics. In this course, you will examine theory, history, practice, and functioning of group work for various types of groups across different group settings. Information will be provided about group formation, progression, group leadership, ethics, and professional guidelines for the practice of group counseling. Videotapes of group therapy sessions conducted by expert and beginning therapists will form a basis for learning.
