(3350) 3 hours. Examines theoretical and practical aspects of emergent literacy. The course focuses on developmentally appropriate practices that foster motivated, strategic readers, and writers. Emphasizes development of early language and pre-literacy skills, common school literacy practices, parental/social influences, and affective elements related to early reading. Prerequisites: Student must be pursuing Education B.S. Completion or concurrent enrollment in EDUC 1301 and EDUC 2301. Course Typically Offered: Fall, Spring and Summer.
