5660. 3 hours. Considering that many ELLs have a Spanish speaking background, this class will focus on the identification and explanation ofthe nature and origin of different types of errors as well as on an overview of their English second language acquisition process. Practical analysis of oral and written English samples will be given as well as an overview of methods and strategies to help error correction. During the course, students will also acquire the most common Spanish phrases and vocabulary used in the classroom setting. Prerequisite(s): Admission to graduate school. Course Typically Offered: Fall and Summer.
