Catalog description

3 hours. Study of curriculum, materials and pedagogy applicable to bilingual classrooms; integrated teaching of mathematics, social studies and sciences in bilingual classrooms, emphasizing research-based methods that use the learner's first language for content instruction, while mentoring novice teachers. Instructed in Spanish. Prerequisite(s): Admission to School of Education teacher graduate program. Must currently be a Texas certified classroom teacher. Successful completion of a Spanish proficiency exam. Course Typically Offered: Spring and Summer.
