Foundations of Security Operations

Catalog description

3 hours. Introduces students to both theoretical and practical aspects of security operations center environments. Students will monitor SIEM dashboards, analyze logs, triage alerts, perform basic malware analysis, and document incidents. Tools include free-tier and/or open-source SIEM platforms, network protocol analyzers, and EDR solutions. Prerequisites: Students must complete CSCE 3340 with a grade of "C" or better before enrolling. Typically Offered: Spring
