Catalog description

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to culturally competent social work practice. In this course, students analyze the diversity of client populations, by race, ethnicity, or gender that predisposes them to oppression and discrimination within the dominant culture of our society. Throughout the course, students are encouraged to assess their own level of self-awareness along with examining their own biases, values, behaviors, and belief systems to engage with various cultural groups and apply their learning to a different population.
