Catalog description

3 hours. This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of social welfare policy. Students will learn to analyze policies and develop advocacy plans to address policy issues. Additionally, students will learn the policy analysis process, including values that affect policy, legislative procedures, and the roles of lobbying and advocacy organizations. In the course, there will be a special emphasis on policies that impact human rights and advance social and economic justice. Prerequisite(s): SOWK 2311 and SOWK 2312. Corequisite(s): SOWK 3343, SOWK 4323 AND SOWK 4343. Course typically offered: Fall and Spring.
