** Transfer course offered by NT752 ** 4090. Semantics and Pragmatics. 3 hours. Introduction to the linguistic sub-discipline of semantics. Examines how meaning emerges at the word, sentence, constructional, and utterance level, and how it is required by second language users. Includes an introduction to empirical methods for the study of meaning. Prerequisite(s) : LING 3070. Students who have received credit for LING 3060 with a grade of A prior to declaring a major in Linguistics may substitute LING 3060 for 3070 ; or consent of department.
