7127. 1 hour. This course will explore different technologies used in law practice in both trial and transactional types of practice. It embraces the ideal of ABA Model Rule 1.1, the Duty of Competence, and comment 8, which states that to be competent, a lawyer needs to stay abreast of relevant technological changes. Some technologies to be covered include: standard office applications, e-Discovery, redaction tools, practice management systems, litigation tools, document assembly programs, contract review systems, etc. Students will earn a certificate in Practice Management & Document Automation. In addition, students have a choice in earning an additional certificate in either eDiscovery or Contract Review, or write a computer program that addresses a legal issue.
