Comparative survey of drama from the late 19th century to the present, emphasizing the globalization and increasing multiculturalism of the genre. Playwrights studied may include Henrik Ibsen, Bernard Shaw, Bertolt Brecht, Jean Genet, Wole Soyinka, Amiri Baraka, Caryl Churchill, Athol Fugard, August Wilson and David Henry Hwang. Satisfies the Cross-cultural, Diversity and Global Studies requirement of the University Core Curriculum.
