Catalog description

This course provides a systematic introduction to bioethics with a strong emphasis on clinical ethics. Students will examine ethical theory as applied to medicine and health care, analyze real and simulated clinical cases, and develop practical skills in ethical reasoning, consultation, and professional judgment. Topics include patient autonomy, informed consent, end-of-life care, reproductive ethics, resource allocation, research ethics, and emerging biomedical technologies, with attention to legal and institutional contexts relevant to U.S. health care.
