Catalog description

Criminological overview of the historical development of drug and alcohol use, misuse, and abuse and social control thereof in the United States. The complex link between drugs, alcohol and crime and the theoretical perspectives on their relationships are presented. The development of drug laws, societal and criminal justice system responses to drug law violations, and the resulting institutional, economic, legal and political impacts are also critically examined. Prereq: CJ 201 .
