Catalog description
An intensive course equivalent to WLCH 101 plus WLCH 102 . Development of communicative abilities within an integrated skills approach [speaking, listening, reading, writing]. The course is specifically open to: 1) Heritage speakers or students with speaking experience, but with minimal or no Chinese background in reading or writing Mandarin Chinese; 2) Students with a foundational understanding who can only type Chinese characters on a computer; 3) Students with strong listening and speaking skills, including heritage speakers, who want to learn to write and recognize elementary-level Chinese characters; 4) Students with no Chinese background who, for motivational or scheduling reasons, are willing to commit to completing the entire academic year's sequence in a single semester.
