Introduction to basic issues pertaining to race and ethnicity in Japanese society by exploring different racial and ethnic groups in Japan from indigenous groups to postcolonial exiles and recent immigrants. Reading and critically analyzing scholarly books and articles, news, government statistics, narratives, and artworks some of which are translated from Japanese.
