This course examines the foundations and evolving meanings of American democracy through the historical and contemporary experiences among Asians and Asian Americans. The course draws on a broad range of sources, including the nation's foundational texts, government reports, newspapers, popular media, court cases, and oral history interviews, to explore the ideals of citizenship, equality, and belonging in the United States.
