Inherited disease is increasingly recognized in small animal/equine patients. In this elective we will discuss how to understand and explain mode of inheritance of familial diseases with animal owners, where to find & how to assess genetic tests, how to interpret test results for common genetic tests and how to use public resources to provide answers to common questions about genetic diseases from companion animals/ horse owners. Consultation questions submitted to the College's genetic consult service will be used.
