Catalog description

This course introduces students to issues and topics related to strategies and interventions supporting the journey towards recovery and overcoming addiction. This will include special populations that may have specific treatment needs. The course will also explore barriers to successful recovery, including disparities and stigma. The course will start by looking at substance use disorders across the lifespan. In addition, there will be an exploration of the social determinants of health impacting substance use and other addictive disorders. The course will investigate contemporary and controversial issues in the area of substance use disorders.
