Catalog description

This course will begin with a solid foundation of the history and epidemiology of opioid misuse, addiction and recovery. Students will be introduced to present-day discourses on opioid misuse prevention, treatment, recovery, harm reduction and public policy. This course will review the various agonist, partial-agonist and full-agonist medications used to treat opioid use disorders. The impact of stigma on individuals with opioid use disorders, best community practices, recovery supports, and information on treatment and payer sources will be discussed.
