Introduction to product development and prototyping. Team-based development of a new product during the semester. Specific topics include the voice of the customer, product and parameter specifications, Quality Function Deployment and the House of Quality, concept generation, concept selection, detailed design using CAD/CAM software, prototyping, design for assembly, design for the environment, and intellectual property and patents.
