Advanced Political Social Work

Catalog description

This course will examine political social work practice on an advanced level, focusing on how social workers can fulfill their ethical responsibilities to social and political action for social justice. The course will examine political mechanisms for eliciting social change, including influencing the decisions and policies of candidates and policymakers, holding professional and political staff appointments, engaging with campaigns, and seeking and holding elected offices. Course participants will learn advocacy strategies for expanding the political power of underrepresented groups.
