Concentration Field II External Supervision

Catalog description

Students who are assigned to a field site that does not have a credentialed field supervisor are required to complete a section of MSW external field supervisor in conjunction with field practicum and seminar. SWK 5040 Concentration Field II External Supervision must be taken concurrently with SWK 5800 Foundation Field I and Seminar. SWK 5040 is the fourth of four external supervisor experiences that enable students to apply master’s level coursework in a generalist practice setting. Students, site supervisors, field seminar instructors and external MSW supervisors collaborate to plan activities that will support the development of generalist/advanced skills as specified in individualized learning contracts. External MSW supervisors and students meet on a regular basis throughout the semester in order to integrate practice and theory, resolve ethical dilemmas and develop professional identity.
