Human Behavior and Social Environment II

Catalog description

This course is a continuation of SWK 3450. Special focus is placed on basic information on the social environment as a set of larger systems. These larger systems impact individual human behavior. These larger systems include societal institutions, communities and organizations, with particular attention given to the influence of ethnic, racial, gender and social class, as well as sexual orientation and cultural diversity in a pluralistic society. The course enables students to evaluate and apply Macro theories and models of human behavior. This course challenges social work students to view the impacts of human oppression, discrimination, and social and economic injustice on, and transmitted through, organizations, communities, social institutions, society and the world at large.
