Political Social Work

Catalog description

This course will introduce political social work practice, focusing on how social workers can fulfill their ethical responsibilities to social and political action for social justice. The course will provide an understanding of how politics impacts social workers’ lives as well as the lives of those served by social workers on both a micro and macro level. This course will prepare participants for work in political settings by developing practice skills for engaging with policymakers, influencing policy agendas, participating in electoral campaigns, and empowering clients, communities, and themselves to become politically engaged.
