Social Work Practice with Trauma and Resiliency

Catalog description

Impacts of trauma and resilience on vulnerable populations are examined. In this course, students will analyze and describe the ways that trauma and resilience impact various populations, groups, and communities on the micro, mezzo, and macro levels. These will include children and youth, survivors of domestic violence, those with substance use disorders and addiction, LGBTQ+, veterans, people who are homeless, those from a variety of races and cultures, businesses, systems, and communities. Students will demonstrate an understanding of situations/events and assessment and intervention formulations. They will also describe how they would approach completing these assessment and intervention tools with clients. Students will develop skills for addressing trauma with individuals and communities.
