Human Behavior and Social Environment I

Catalog description

The course focuses on human development from infancy through old age within the context of social environments and how the social environment can impede or promote well-being. This course introduces students to a variety of theoretical frameworks used to understand human behavior and its development across the life span. Biological, social, cultural, and psychological factors throughout each life stage are discussed. Particular attention is paid to culture, race, class, gender, and sexual orientation. Social work majors must complete this course with a minimum of grade C. PREREQ: SOC 1020, 1050, or 2090; PSY 1010 COREQ: SWK 3050 and SWK 3480
