Catalog description

Through reading and analysis of included texts, students will familiarize themselves with the most relevant literary genres and movements, as well as the sociopolitical contexts in which this literature is developed. In the readings of these texts, we will explore various themes, such as religious and cultural conflict, masculinity, misogyny, the supernatural, violence, moral corruption, the concept of honor, women’s changing roles in society, and political and social crisis. Students will also review pertinent literary movements. PREREQ: Permission of the Spanish Program Director
